From a Hackathon-Winning Idea to a Mission-Driven Company
Building transparent, accountable, and intelligent waste management systems for institutions and governments across India.
How It All Started
Reclevo was founded by a team that came together while solving a real-world sustainability challenge during the Sustainability Hackathon at GIM'25 (February 8).
What began as a hackathon project focused on carbon offset tracking and sustainable waste systems quickly stood out for its depth, practicality, and real-world relevance. Our solution was recognized as the Winning Entry, validating both the problem we chose to solve and the approach we took to solve it.

From Idea to Impact
The team was formed by professionals from IIT Madras and TISS, bringing together expertise across AI engineering, machine learning, product strategy, and sustainability-driven system design.
Guided by an industry mentor with over a decade of experience in solid and liquid waste management, the team went beyond ideation—building a solution grounded in on-ground realities rather than theoretical assumptions.
“The overwhelming response from jury members, sustainability experts, and institutional stakeholders made one thing clear: this was not just a hackathon solution—it was a system worth building in the real world.”
Encouraged by this validation, the team decided to continue working together and formally evolve the project into Reclevo.
Today, the same core hackathon team continues to build Reclevo with the same mindset that won the competition—problem-first thinking, practical execution, and sustainability at scale.
What started as a winning idea has now grown into a mission-driven company focused on enabling transparent, accountable, and intelligent waste and sustainability management for institutions and governments.
